ABOUT RACHAEL MCGOWEN
Rachael McGowen completed the Ana Forrest 200-hour Forrest Yoga teacher training in 2010 and has since also completed the Forrest Advanced teacher training. Well-versed in many styles of yoga, she chose Forrest training because it is designed specifically for healing the aches of Western bodies and has a heavy focus on breath, healing, hands-on teaching, addressing injuries, alignment, and embodying spirit – all while being delighted by a fun, challenging, and intensive physical practice.
She moved to Brooklyn from San Francisco in 2013, where she taught at The Mindful Body, Yoga Tree, Innerstellar, and Moksha, along with working with numerous regular private clients. Prior to SF, she taught in Charlottesville, VA, at several studios and with private students. She encourages her students to focus on a specific intention with every practice, and to also incorporate these intentions into their lives off the mat. Rachael has also completed many workshops and trainings by other teachers in, among others, anatomy, pre- and post-natal, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and therapeutic yoga. Rachael teaches at Bend and Bloom in Park Slope. She is not only an agent for transformation of her students, but through her sustainability consulting firm, re:SHIFT. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Shawn and children Benji and Sylvia.
ABOUT DENISE HOPKINS
Denise began her yoga journey after working for 13 years in the NYC fashion industry. Yoga became her saving grace to the competitive nature of the business. After searching for a teacher training in the city, she decided to take the Forrest Yoga training based on gut instinct. It was life changing. She completed her training with founder Ana Forrest in 2005 and currently assists Ana nationally at workshops and teacher trainings.
Through FY, Denise learned the skills she needed to let go of old behavior patterns which set her up for being “walked on”. She found an inner strength which birthed new confidence, passion, and lots of feeling.
Denise draws from her strong sense of intuition and passion for hands-on healing. She has a knack for reading the energy of students and responding to what they need. Denise’s way of instructing is direct, clear, and inspiring. It is her desire that every student feels seen and understood.
CHEF SABRINA LOPEZ
Sabrina is inspired by the people she has met along her 30 something year journey: farmers and the people who’ve grown and cooked damn good food. From her high school buddy’s “Nonna” in southern Italy who made homemade cavatelli, to the life-changing orange she tried while roaming a Casablanca food market. My cooking style is colorful, flavorful, exudes lots of personality. Herbs galore. Vegetables! She loves to combine unusual spices with fresh ingredients using traditional old-world cooking methods.
